I'm passionate about learning, facing the challenges put before me, and being creative. I think some of my best work results from those times I'm most challenged. When I make a mistake or get "stuck" on something, I have an opportunity to look for a creative alternative and I like that. I love working with people and being part of the change that results from our efforts together.

Recently I was working with a School Design Team. We were going to use the design process to give this group some practice in designing work. We followed the process and then we invited three students in to talk with us. We told them about what content they would be learning in this upcoming unit of work and asked them to help us think about the types of tasks or activities that would be most helpful and appealing to them and others in the class. While the students were at first shy and somewhat hesitant, with a little prodding they shared their ideas. I think they were shocked that we were asking their opinion. We learned so much from these kids, and what they brought to the table will certainly enhance the design. The teachers were so enthusiastic after hearing from the students. It was a wonderful experience and once again teaches us the importance of student voice.
