I came to work at the Schlechty Center after 15 years as a teacher, librarian, and literacy coach in public schools. Very early on, I felt a connection to the Images of School chart, as I was able to think about all the schools and school districts I'd been employed by (in three different states) and find them analyzed there. Also, I recognized early on that the Center itself truly modeled the learning organization; my behavior, hours, and performance were not rule-bound, but norm-bound.

In my role as editor I am able to use my love for all things related to the English language. I enjoy reading and rereading all of the materials that are used on-site with clients and at conferences. I feel challenged every day and I learn something every day. Also, as the mother of two elementary-age daughters, I am able to compare and contrast what happens in their school and the work they are given with what we emphasize. I get up every morning hoping that in some small way, the work I do that day will affect what happens in my daughters' classrooms.
