Nicole Bigg Director of Communications

Nicole Bigg Portrait

As a high school student, I served as a student representative on the first large-scale district assessment the Center conducted. It was a testing ground for the ideas and standards that eventually framed the Standard-Bearer School District Network. This was my first exposure to Phil's writing and also to the organization that supported him. I was instantly enamored of both. After college I was able to reconnect with the Center and join the staff.

When I joined the staff in 1999, my primary responsibility was to provide technical assistance to both our staff and our client networks. In those days, our use of technology was limited and we spent a considerable amount of time making the case for networking. It is amazing to see the way our thinking has changed over time and how our associates and clients have begun to embrace new technologies. My current focus has shifted to communications; in this role I continue to work on the use of social networking tools with our clients, but I also work to ensure that all forms of Schlechty Center communication—website, slideshows, tools—speak to educators, parents, and community members who want something different for their students.
