Key Leaders Conference (Tampa, FL) 03.08.10 - 03.10.10

The Key Leaders Conference provides participants an opportunity to solidify working relationships across role groups. A major goal for this conference is to coordinate the efforts of all role groups toward becoming a learning organization.

What will participants learn?

Teams of key leaders, led by their superintendents, will read in advance Jim Collins’ latest book, How the Mighty Fall. Using Collins’ ideas integrated with Schlechty Center frameworks, key leaders will explore the challenges they face in building district capacity to maintain direction and focus. Teams will have an opportunity to think about their own district and their leadership efforts to provide continuity of leadership, culture and structure, and innovative efforts over time.

What will participants produce?

Participating will produce a customized team plan that results in helping their district move in a common direction.

Who is the intended audience?

This conference is open to key leaders in a school district, including but not limited to teacher leaders, principals, central office administrators, and school board members. It is vital that the superintendent accompany the team in this experience.

Dates and Times: The conference will begin on Monday, March 8 at 8 a.m. and conclude on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at noon.

Testimonials

All students deserve to learn, and it is our job as educators to reach and meet the needs of all students – not just the 30 percent there to learn. Finally, I am part of a district that is fostering such a vision and mission! Finally, there is a center for educational reform (The Schlechty Center) out there reaching and teaching districts and schoolhouses across the nation and inspiring such a vision and mission!

The WOW Conference was incredible. I came away with a deeper understanding of the framework and have already implemented the "systems" thinking resources into our Central Office staff meetings.

Thank you for the ideas and the motivation. I always learn so much when I'm with you...even things I didn't expect.
